OGDEN, Utah, Feb. 11, 2020 –Bank of Utah, will host a series of four Economic Forecast Events in February, featuring Dr. Örn B. Bodvarsson, respected economics professor and dean of the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business at Westminster College. Bodvarsson, who specializes in labor markets and immigration, will share his perspective on the state of the economy with bank friends and customers on Feb. 13 in Logan, Feb. 19 in Ogden, Feb. 26 in Salt Lake City and Feb. 27 in Provo.

“Bank of Utah sponsors Economic Forecast Events each year to give community and business leaders a look at what lies ahead for the local and national economies, from top experts in the field,” said Bank of Utah President Douglas L. DeFries. “We’re very pleased that Dr. Bodvarsson was available to be our featured speaker this year. We think people will be fascinated with what he has to say and will walk away with valuable information to help with their 2020 strategic planning.”

Bodvarsson holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in economics from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. in economics from Simon Fraser University. He teaches economics at Westminster College and has taught economics at a variety of institutions including Whitman College, Western Washington University, University of Montana, Bodvarsson has published in the areas of immigration, the economics of education, labor market contracts and labor market discrimination.

Logan - February 13, at the Riverwoods Convention Center, 615 Riverwood Parkway, Logan, Utah. Check-in and lunch buffet are at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation from noon to 1:00 p.m. This is a combined presentation with Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Ogden - February 19, at The Monarch, 455 25th St., Ogden, Utah. Check-in and lunch buffet at 11:00 a.m. with the presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by Weber State University and the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce. Additional speakers include WSU President Brad L. Mortensen and Vice President and Senior Advisor Consultant of Franklin Templeton TJ Gies.

Salt Lake City - February 26, at Grand America Hotel, 555 Main St., Salt Lake City, Utah. Check-in and lunch buffet start at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Provo - February 27, at Utah Valley Convention Center, 220 W Center Street, Provo, Utah. Check-in and lunch buffet start at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation from noon to 1:00 p.m.
