Building Self-Sufficiency: 2025 Member Impact Grant Story

As part of the 2025 Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines Member Impact Fund, Bank of Utah helped secure more than $200,000 in grant funding for 30 nonprofit organizations — more than any other financial institution in the program. These grants are helping local organizations throughout Utah create meaningful, lasting impact in the communities they serve.

Ogden-Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP)

Since 1965, OWCAP has helped families in Weber County move toward self-sufficiency through education, employment support, and community resources. Its programs — including Head Start, rental education and VITA tax assistance — provide essential tools for economic stability and long-term success.

One of its most impactful initiatives is Circles of Weber County, a 12- to 18-month mentorship program that pairs participants with community allies to help them build financial literacy, job readiness, food security and lasting support networks. Bank of Utah supports this work through board service and ongoing financial contributions.

Funding from the 2025 Member Impact Fund will help provide meals for Circles participants, deliver financial literacy resources, coordinate mentor involvement and expand outreach. The grant also supports volunteer engagement and community-building efforts that make Circles a powerful and sustainable pathway out of poverty.
