Bank of Utah was honored to support Angel Flight West’s annual Santa Flight, a tradition that brings communities together to share joy, generosity and hope with children in southern Utah and northern Arizona. Each year, volunteer pilots lift off with planes full of gifts and essentials, creating a holiday moment that reflects the true spirit of caring for our neighbors.

On December 10, a group of 20 volunteer pilots from Angel Flight West’s Utah Wing departed from airports across the state and flew to Colorado City, Arizona. Their planes were filled with donated toys, warm clothing, backpacks, books and school supplies for roughly 500 students from Water Canyon Elementary in Hildale, Utah and Cottonwood Elementary in Colorado City.

This effort reflected the generosity of many individuals and organizations. Angel Flight West pilots, community partners and supporters — including the John C. Kish Foundation, Bank of Utah and the Leavitt Group — worked together to collect items specifically requested by the schools. KUED (PBS Utah) also contributed more than 500 books through its “Ready to Learn” program, helping spark a love of reading for every child who received one.

When the aircraft arrived, students gathered in the airport hangar to greet Santa, Mrs. Claus and a team of festive elves. Principals Brad Jolley and Natalie Hammon hosted a short program featuring holiday songs, followed by the presentation of donations from Lou Rossi, Angel Flight West’s Utah Wing Leader.

The Santa Flight began in 2000 and has grown into a heartfelt tradition that connects volunteers and communities across Utah. Coordinated by Utah Wing Leader Lou Rossi and AFW Outreach Coordinators Phil Titus and Joanne Brattain, the annual flight continues to support Title I schools in rural areas where resources can be harder to access.

Bank of Utah participated in Ogden’s Light the World Giving Machine campaign, donating $1,320 through the 777 Challenge to support individuals and families during the holiday season.

Bank of Utah was proud to play a small part in bringing smiles, support and hope to families during the holiday season.
